Education – the new normal
Juby Cohen is a ‘home-grown’ product, born and bred in Zimbabwe and proudly waving our flag where she is currently teaching in UK. From early beginnings in Louis Mountbatten School in Ridgeview, then Moffat Primary School and Morgan High School, in Arcadia, Juby was awarded a teaching scholarship to study at the University of Zimbabwe. She graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree, and a Post Graduate certificate in Education (PGCE), Juby returned to Morgan High School and began her career a French and English teacher, basketball and athletics coach, and musician. She became the French Chief Examiner for (GCE) and ‘A’ Level Oral exams. Juby was offered three bursaries by the French Government to study in France; one of these led to a qualification to train French teachers in the Post Graduate Certificate of Education’s Teacher Training Programme at the University of Zimbabwe’s Education Department: La Formation des Professeurs de Français – FLE. (Français Langue Etrangère – French as a Foreign Language). Juby has taught at Morgan High School, Arundel, Eaglesvale, pioneered the opening of Westridge High School.
Since leaving Zimbabwe, Juby has been teaching English in UK and has achieved an MA Degree in Education: Leading Innovation and Change and received The Brown Velvet Lifetime Award for Service to the Community in the category of Education in 2015. An accomplished musician, Juby continues to follow her passion for the violin.

Originally trained as a teacher in Zimbabwe, Mrs Jubeda Cohen is a seasoned teacher, specializing in the teaching of French and English up to ‘A’ Level and has assisted in developing the graduate teaching programme for modern languages in her homeland. Mrs Cohen is presently employed as a teacher of English in a small secondary school in Surrey where she is currently Head of Year 8.
