The greenish water rushed over the large rugged rocks as the river meandered on its way to meeting the long low bridge in the south. The swallows dipped their beaks into the water as they built their nests under the arches of the bridge. The sound of trucks could be heard in the distance as they struggled to haul their load up the steep hill. It was on the banks of this mighty river that a three-year-old girl discovered her passion for fishing. Her father placed a reed rod in her hand and said, “Have a go.” After the first cast, she caught a bream the size of her little hand and words could not express her excitement. Who would have thought that this little girl’s river playground would have a lasting memory that would shape her future?
